"Thank God For Jesus!"

Two weeks ago we shared in a message titled, “My One Response!”
Recap…Romans 3:1
“So then what is the importance of circumcision, and WHAT ADVANTAGE is there of being a Jew?”

What’s the point of being a Jew, or someone raised in the things of God, someone raised in church, versus someone who isn’t a Jew or raised in the things of God, or raised in church?
Paul answered this in verse 2 by saying,
“Actually, THERE ARE NUMEROUS ADVANTAGES. Most important, God distinguished the Jews from all other people by entrusting them with THE REVELATION of his prophetic promises.”

The most important advantage is God has revealed HIMSELF to us. The most important advantage is God has revealed His WORD, and His thoughts to us. He didn’t remain concealed and leave us to ourselves.
But as God revealed Himself to us…SOMETHING HAPPENED.
📝 As GOD revealed Himself to us, it revealed His HOLINESS. His Holiness revealed to us our SINS. Our sins revealed to us our need for a SAVIOR.
From the very beginning, God revealed to us His holiness, and the need for a sacrifice for our sins. (Genesis 3:21, Hebrews 9:22) This is key because….
📝 In this age of RELEVANCE, we must understand that in the eyes of God, Holiness will never be IRRELEVANT.
📝 The CLOSER you get to God, you begin to realize how FAR AWAY from God you once were.
Or I could say it like this…
📝 Until you clearly see your SINS, you’ll never clearly see your need for a SAVIOR.
Our passage of reading this morning helps us to clearly see our sins, which in return helps us to clearly see our need AND APPRECIATION for a Savior. Romans 3:9-10 reads,
“So, are we to conclude then that we Jews are superior to all others? Certainly not! For we have already proven that both Jews and gentiles are ALL UNDER THE BONDAGE OF SIN. 10) And the Scriptures agree, for it is written: There is NO ONE who always does what is right, no, not even one!”

“There is NO ONE with true spiritual insight, and there is NO ONE who seeks after God alone.”
Romans 3:11 TPT
“All have deliberately wandered from God’s ways. All have become depraved and unfit. Kindness has disappeared from them all, NOT EVEN ONE is good.”

“Their words release a stench, like the smell of death—foul and filthy! Deceitful lies roll off their tongues. The venom of a viper drips from their lips. 14) Bitter profanity flows from their mouths, only meant to cut and harm.”

“They are infatuated with violence and murder. 15) They release ruin and misery wherever they go.”

“They never experience the path of peace. 18) They shut their eyes to the awe-inspiring God!”

“Now, we realize that everything the law says is addressed to those who are under its authority. This is for two reasons: So that every excuse will be silenced, WITH NO BOASTING OF INNOCENCE. And so that the entire world will be held accountable to God’s standards.”

“For by the merit of observing the law NO ONE earns the status of being declared righteous before God, for it is the law that fully exposes AND UNMASKS THE REALITY OF SIN.”

I want to preach a message this morning titled,
THANK GOD FOR JESUS
Here’s why we thank God for Jesus…
THE MOMENT THAT THE FIRST ADAM SINNED, THE LAST ADAM—JESUS CHRIST WAS ON THE WAY!
“And so it is written, “The first man Adam became a living being.” THE LAST ADAM became a life-giving spirit.”
I Corinthians 15:45 NKJV
Here’s why we thank God for Jesus.
“And I will put enmity (open hostility) Between you and the woman, And between your seed (offspring) and her Seed; HE SHALL [FATALLY] BRUISE YOUR HEAD, And you shall [only] bruise His heel.”
Genesis 3:15 AMP
In this moment, God was declaring to Satan…
EVERYTHING THAT THE FIRST ADAM WASN’T, THE SECOND ADAM WAS GOING TO BE. EVERYTHING THAT THE FIRST ADAM COULDN’T DO, THE SECOND ADAM WAS GOING TO DO. WHAT THE FIRST ADAM STARTED, THE SECOND ADAM WAS GOING TO FINISH!
We thank God for Jesus, because through His life, and through His life alone, we can read Romans 3:9 totally different. Let’s look at it again…Romans 3:9-10…
“So, are we to conclude then that we Jews are superior to all others? Certainly not! For we have already proven that both Jews and gentiles are ALL UNDER THE BONDAGE OF SIN. 10) And the Scriptures agree, for it is written: There is NO ONE who always does what is right, no, not even one!”

But Jesus! Jesus isn’t under the bondage of sin. Never has been, and never will be. There is NO ONE who always does what is right, no, not even one BUT JESUS!
““I don’t have much more time to talk to you, because the ruler of this world approaches. HE HAS NO POWER OVER ME, BUT I WILL DO WHAT THE FATHER REQUIRES OF ME...”
John 14:30-31 NLT
“There is NO ONE with true spiritual insight, and there is NO ONE who seeks after God alone.”

But Jesus! There is NO ONE with true spiritual insight, and there is NO ONE who seeks after God alone—BUT JESUS!

But Jesus! No one can boast of their holiness, or righteousness, BUT JESUS!
Paul goes on to say in verse 19…
And so that the entire world will be held accountable to GOD’S STANDARDS.”

Jesus Christ is the standard. This is why we thank God for Jesus!!!
EVERYTHING I’M NOT—JESUS IS. EVERYTHING I COULDN’T DO, JESUS DID. EVERYTHING THAT SIN TRIED TO START IN MY LIFE, JESUS ALREADY FINISHED! THIS IS WHY I PUT MY FAITH IN HIM!
“For you died, and YOUR LIFE IS HIDDEN WITH CHRIST IN GOD.”
Colossians 3:3 NKJV
Paul closes out this section by saying in verse 21…
“But now, independently of the law, the righteousness of God is tangible and brought to light THROUGH JESUS, THE ANOINTED ONE.

Here’s my testimony in one sentence…
I WAS UNDER THE POWER OF SIN UNTIL THE POWER OF SIN MET THE POWER OF JESUS CHRIST.
Here’s how it happened…
📝 • Jesus TOOK THE ASSIGNMENT.
Jesus answered the eternal call that was echoed in Isaiah 6:8,
“Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: “WHOM SHALL I SEND, And WHO WILL GO FOR US?”…

Adam couldn’t do it. Noah couldn’t do it. Abraham couldn’t do it. David couldn’t do it….
“Therefore, when He came into the world, He said: “Sacrifice and offering You did not desire, BUT A BODY YOU HAVE PREPARED FOR ME.”
Hebrews 10:5 NKJV
Whom shall we send? Who will go for us. Jesus stood up and said, “I WILL! PREPARE A BODY FOR ME. NOT TO GO SIGHT SEE. NOT FOR ME TO BE A TOURIST. PREPARE A BODY FOR ME TO OFFER. PREPARE A BODY FOR ME TO SACRIFICE!”
And from there…
📝• Jesus TOOK THE JOURNEY.
“But when the fullness of the time had come, GOD SENT FORTH HIS SON, born of a woman, born under the law,”
Galatians 4:4 NKJV
Jesus was promised in Genesis 3:15. He was in the wait for 7,000 years. In the Old Testament approximately 574 verses point to him, with close to 300 prophecies about Him. God preserved the bloodline that he was destined to come through, 42 generations. He was born in a manger, raised in the slums of Nazareth. When they heard about Him, they said CAN ANYTHING GOOD COME OUT OF NAZARETH? He lived for 33 years, the only sinless man to walk the earth, yet he died a criminals death, rose from the dead on the third day, settled the debt for our sins, then sat down IN THE PLACE OF HONOR AT THE RIGHT HAND OF OUR MAJESTIC GOD in heaven. 2 Corinthians 8:9 sums it up like this….
“You know the generous grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. Though he was rich, YET FOR YOUR SAKES HE BECAME POOR, so that by his poverty he could make you rich.”

Based upon our earthly understanding, Revelation 21:16 tells us that heaven is approximately 1500.3 miles in HEIGHT, LENGTH, and WIDTH IN EACH DIRECTION.
Revelation 21:21 says,
“The twelve gates were MADE OF PEARLS—each gate from a single pearl! And the main street was PURE GOLD, as clear as glass.”

Jesus gave up ALL OF THAT to live confound inside of a womb of a woman that He created, just to do our third thought for today….
📝 • Jesus TOOK OUR PLACE.
Jesus left ALL OF THAT, JUST TO TAKE OUR PLACE.
“For God made THE ONLY ONE WHO DID NOT KNOW SIN TO BECOME SIN FOR US, so that we might become the righteousness of God through our union with him.”

“Behold WHAT MANNER OF LOVE the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God!…

Colossians 2:13 tells us the details…
“You were dead because of your sins and because your sinful nature was not yet cut away. Then God made you alive with Christ, for he forgave all our sins.”

📝 “He canceled the record of the charges against us and TOOK IT AWAY by nailing it to the cross.”

📝 I will not allow the enemy to keep TAKING ME BACK, to what Jesus Christ already TOOK AWAY!
There’s nothing to take me back to. There’s nothing to show me. There’s nothing to bring up. His grace, His mercy, His love, His forgiveness covered it all. In fact, Luke 23:33 tells me where…
“And when they had come to THE PLACE CALLED CALVARY , THERE THEY CRUCIFIED HIM...”

THE PLACE CALLED CALVARY ….
📝 I will fear no evil in the VALLEY, because of the place called CALVARY.
It was in that place, that He took my place! It was in that place, that my sins were erased.
I WAS UNDER THE POWER OF SIN UNTIL THE POWER OF SIN MET THE POWER OF JESUS CHRIST, IN THE PLACE CALLED CALVARY!!!
Because He lives I can face yesterday. Because He lives I can face today. Because He lives I can face tomorrow.
HAVE YOU BEEN TO THE PLACE CALLED CALVARY?
HAVE YOU ACCEPTED HIS POWER?
HAVE YOU ACCEPTED HIS FINISHED WORK?
